Wakefield, MA – The following is a letter from Coach Mike Boyages to the WWC and the Wakefield Community:
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to the many players, coaches and individuals and that I have had the distinguished pleasure of working with over the years.

I would like to begin by thanking the Warrior Club for their many years of service to the football program. For the past twenty-five plus years, I have had the privilege of working with so many great Warrior Club members. Their fundraising efforts have truly benefited our players, coaching staff and program. On behalf of our coaching staff, I want to sincerely thank all former and current Warrior Club members as well as the parents for entrusting their sons to us. Our philosophy has been to treat every player like our own son and set a positive example for them along the way. My greatest reward as a coach has been watching players grow as individuals and graduate a better person than when they first joined the team.

I’d also like to sincerely thank all or my assistant coaches for their friendship and unselfish contribution to the program. We’ve shared so many great times and games coaching football at Wakefield High. I feel very lucky and honored to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented coaches who truly care about our players and program. They all share great enthusiasm and love for the game and the kids they coached. Their dedicated effort and sacrifice has resulted in great success over the years and made my job a lot easier. I would also like to thank our athletic trainer, support staff, team managers and volunteers. They have all played an important role in the success of our program and have always been part of our “football family”.

Finally, I want to thank all the players I’ve coached over the years. I’ve always felt our athletes were special. They always played with intensity, unselfishness and pride while representing Wakefield Football with class and sportsmanship. My staff and I are forever honored to have coached so many outstanding young men. I hope they’ve been able to take with them many great memories playing football at Wakefield High. They’ve provided me with a lifetime worth of the best memories and great times!

In closing, I want to congratulate Steve Cummings on becoming our new head coach. Steve and his staff will bring great passion and pride to the program while carrying on the Warrior tradition. I’m looking forward to following the program and want to wish the coaching staff and team great success next season. Play like warriors, represent the program with class and dignity, and enjoy every minute of it along the way. Best of luck and thanks for the memories!
