Wakefield to face Danvers in Playoff Opener

October 24th, 2016 by wwcpresident

The Wakefield Warriors (4-3) are looking forward not back this week as they prepare for a first round playoff match-up with the very talented Danvers Falcons (6-1) this Friday night (Oct. 28th) at Danvers High School at 7:00 PM.  The Warriors will look to quickly put behind their tough loss to Winchester last week, which was delayed due to lightening numerous times before being finished on Saturday afternoon.  The Warriors got down early to Winchester and never really recovered losing 35-7.

The Warriors goals of advancing in the state playoffs and taking the conference championship outright are still in reach despite the loss.  Their opponent Friday night will not be an easy one as Danvers’ only loss of the season came at the hands of undefeated Marblehead.  Danvers relies primarily on a punishing ground game lead by Senior Matt Andres who has rushed for over 1,000 yards this season and Quarterback Dean Borders.  The Warrior 4 senior linebackers will need to be at their best to contain the Danvers’ runners and the Warrior offense will look to sustain drives and keep the Danvers offense off the field to keep this a low scoring affair.  Come out Friday night to Danvers High School and support your Wakefield Warriors.
