The Wakefield Warrior Club is pleased to announce that they have named an award in honor of former Superintendent of Schools, Ms. Joan Landers.
The award will be given annually to a member of the community who goes above and beyond for the betterment of the Wakefield High School Football program. Teacher, coaches, administrators, former players, and parents who demonstrate strong support and advocacy towards the program will be considered for the award.
The 1st Annual Joan Landers Award was presented to Ms. Landers prior to her departure from Wakefield in July. Present for the award ceremony was Ms. Landers, Penny Steele-Perkins, Deb Levine, Betsy Benoit, Linda Salamone and John Roberto.
“We are so grateful for the time and effort that Joan put in towards not only the kids on the football team, but the school district as a whole,” said Warrior Club President, Penny Steele-Perkins. She continued, “Joan was an advocate for the program and this is our way of letting her know just how appreciative we are.”
